Hypnotherapy beyond the Hype

There are potentially huge benefits for those who use hypnotherapy as part of everyday life. Once you begin to understand hypnosis, you start to see its potential to improve performance in your physical, emotional and intellectual life.

If you have poor concentration and/or procrastinate, with hypnosis you can instantly motivate yourself.

Athletes use hypnosis to learn new skills more quickly and accurately, and to execute them with confidence - even when under pressure.

So while there's lots of upside, it's understandable that some people still have concerns or 'hand-me-down' ideas regarding hypnosis. A common one is the one is the worry about 'mind control.'  Let's explore what this really means...

If someone expresses concerns about being 'controlled' in hypnosis, what they mean is they don't want to be like a robot that is forced to obey the every whim of the hypnotherapist. But hypnosis isn't like a coma. It's not even unconsciousness. It's really more of a subtle shifting of consciousness.

Using hypnotherapy, you still think logically, but you also have access to the 'software' of your mind in a way that allows you to update instinctive emotional and physical responses. In fact the hypnotised person, not the hypnotherapist, calls the shots. Hypnosis will give you more control in your own life, because of what it allows you to do.

Hypnosis is in many ways nature's optimum learning tool. Because to learn and perform anything well,  you need to experience a natural focussing of attention, which is just an organic form of hypnosis. Very successful people use it this way all the time, because hypnosis is just a natural thing. It's the way we all learn new responses.

Hypnotherapy is easy to do and just about everybody can benefit. Hypnosis is a safe environment to 'try out' new behaviors and emotional patterns before you experience them for real. A man can ask a woman out for a date many times in a calm, relaxed hypnotic state, so that by the time he does it for real it feels comfortable.  You can use it in the same way to prep yourself for a job interview or important meeting; just about anything that makes you nervous or uncomfortable before-hand is an excellent candidate for hypnotic practice.

So hypnotherapy gives you more control of your life, gives you instant benefits, and it's a way of  establishing new patterns of emotional response and behaviour. Hypnosis simply enables you to develop yourself as a human being.

It's understandable when a person doesn't know much about a topic, to just default to being suspicious. Some people assume hypnotherapy is akin to a carnival side show, while others think of it as a sort of mystic mumbo jumbo. But for those who look beyond the hype, the truth is far more interesting and illuminating.
